The preceding four consecutive posts were on the horoscope matching or compatibility matching of the marriage presumptive couples. Mangalik Dosh, the topic of this post, can be considered as a necessary prelude to the horoscope matching or the compatibility tests.
Testing of Mangalik dosh is an invariable part of horoscope matching but, its findings aren’t attached to numerical marking like that of the former. In fact, the horoscope matching is incomplete without Mangalik dosh examination. It is like parameters in choosing a compatible spouse.
The word ‘mangalik’ is derived from the planet ‘Mars’. ‘Dosh’ means affliction. Thus the literal meaning is the affliction caused by the position of the Mars in the horoscope. The other name of the Mars is ‘Bhoum’. So, the Mangal dosh is also called as ‘Bhouma dosh.’ The basis of Mangalik or Bhouma dosh is the position of Mangal (Mars) in the horoscope.
The tenet of Mangalik dosh is that a marriage between a mangalik bride and non-mangalik bridegroom is incompatible and believed to full of bitter eventually resulting in divorce through a rancorous legal battle! When Mars occupies the 1st/2nd/4th/7th/8th/12th house from the ascendant, the condition of mangalik/Bhouma dosh is believed to have formed.
According to a few texts, this affliction is said to have formed when the Mars has taken a position in the 1st/4th/7th/8th/12th house counting from the Moon sign and from the house where the Jupiter is placed in the bride’s horoscope and from the house where the Venus is placed in the bridegroom’s horoscope. But, a school of astrological scholars and researchers do not believe the authenticity of the letter three rules. According to this school of thought, these three principles might have supposedly been added much later on for inexplicable reasons.
The presence of the Mangalik/ Bhouma dosha is not at all a matter of being panicky. There are some other configurations in the horoscope therein which completely nullify and retract the effects of the Mangalik/ Bhouma dosha. They are as below: –
Cancellation of Mangal Dosh: –
Ø If the horoscope matching score point is 25 or above, the evil effects of the Mangal dosha stands nullified.
Ø Presence of the Mangal dosha in both the horoscopes of the bride and the bridegroom neutralizes the mangal dosha affects of each other.
Ø The Mangal dosha effects automatically stand canceled when Mars is present in the ascendant in Aries or in the 4th house in Scorpio or in the 7th house in Capricorn or in 8th house in Cancer or in the 12th house in Sagittarius.
Ø If strong Jupiter or Venus is aspecting the lord of the 7th house, the evil affects of Mangal stands retracted or nullified.
Ø When strong Jupiter or Venus occupies the 1st or the 7th house from the ascendant, the Mars and the Venus are not in conjunction or the Mars is within 11° range from the Sun or in the Cancer or in the enemy sign, the Mangal dosha automatically stands canceled.
Ø When the Saturn occupies the 1st or 7th or 8th or 12th house from the ascendant, the Mangal dosha is nullified.
Ø When the Sun or Saturn or Rahu or Ketu occupies the 7th or 8th house, the Mangaldosh is retracted.
Lastly, but not of the least important point to note in this context is that when the Mangal dosh is present in the horoscope and also the Jupiter and the Venus are weak by any means, these conditions are liable to create a huge chasm of dissension, hate, and abhorrence between the spouses.
The natives having Mangal dosha are very warm, energetic and proactive people; but, their over-reactive, aggressive, assertive and egoist attitude override their virtues.
